Workshop blog

Field notes from people who actually build this stuff

No ghostwriters, no marketing copy. Every article on this page comes out of jobs that have run through our Bendigo workshop — the good decisions, the mistakes and the expensive lessons that made the final builds what they are.

Practical reading for shop owners and trade show teams

Every article is written with a specific job in mind. If you've ever wondered why a cheap lightbox fails in year four, or why a stand that looked good in the render didn't bump in on time, the answers are in here.

Why we publish

A workshop blog is cheaper than a sales pitch

Signage and exhibition stands have a reputation problem in Australia, and most of it comes from suppliers who won't explain what they're using. We'd rather put the answers in writing and let you decide.

No supplier myths

We name the cheap materials by name, and explain what actually happens to them in Australian conditions. If we sound blunt about extruded acrylic and constant-voltage drivers, it's because we've replaced a lot of both.

Written from the floor

Every article gets shaped by the people running the CNC, the welder and the show floor. Nothing is written by someone who has never carried a lightbox up a ramp at 6am.

Tell us what to write next

If there's a question you keep getting stonewalled on by suppliers, send it through. Half our article list comes from customer emails asking the same thing three times in a month.

What's coming next

Articles we're drafting for the next few months

This isn't a content marketing schedule — it's a list of genuine questions customers keep asking us on the phone. When the answer gets long enough, it turns into a post.

  • How to read a signage quote line by line
  • What actually happens to a lightbox when water gets inside
  • Choosing the right LED colour temperature for a retail fit-out
  • Building an exhibition stand that survives being loaded by venue forklift drivers
