Built to be seen from 40 metres

Retail signage that stops traffic and sells product

Bonustrellis fabricates illuminated shopfront signage, lightboxes and channel letters inside our Bendigo workshop, then installs them anywhere in Australia. Every piece is engineered from acrylic, brushed aluminium or powder-coated steel so it survives coastal air, west-facing sun and the daily grind of a shopping strip.

What lands in your quote

Site measure, CAD proofs, material schedule, LED layout, electrical compliance paperwork and a fixed installation date. No surprise line items sneaking in after sign-off.

The details

From a sketch on the back of a docket to a lit shopfront

Most retail signage fails because someone tried to save money on the frame. We work the other way — the chassis gets built first, then the skin, the lighting and the finish follow. That means your sign still looks sharp five summers after installation, when cheaper builds have already started delaminating. We handle the full path in-house: measuring the facade, drafting, machining, welding, wiring and finally bolting it to your wall with the right anchors for brick, tilt-slab or heritage render.

  • Acrylic faces machined on a 3-axis router, not hand-cut with a jigsaw
  • Transformer, driver and MLV wiring sealed in a serviceable IP66 enclosure
  • Fixing method selected for your actual wall substrate, not a generic guess
  • Certificate of electrical safety issued on the day of install
If the frame flexes when you press it, the sign was always going to fail. Ours doesn't.

Our record

Fifteen years of learning what actually holds up outdoors

We started with one welder in a Bendigo lock-up and grew into a full fabrication floor. Along the way we made every mistake worth making, so you don't have to pay for them.

  • 2009

    One welder, one brake press

Our founder cut and folded the first set of stainless channel letters for a hardware store in Kennington. That sign is still on the wall.

  • 2015

    Moving into LED lighting in-house

We stopped subcontracting illumination and brought LED layout, driver selection and bench testing inside the workshop. Failures dropped by more than half within a year.

  • 2021

    National install network

We built a roster of licensed installers in every mainland capital so we can ship a finished sign anywhere and have it in the air within a fortnight.

In-house powder coating

Colour matching to your brand guide, baked on site rather than farmed out to a third party who rushes the cure.

Written warranty, real terms

Five years on structure and coating, two years on LED modules and drivers. If a module dies in month eight, we come back and swap it.

Every sign gets signed off by the same foreman who built it

No hand-offs to a subbie who's never seen the drawings. The person who cut the metal is the person who checks it before the truck leaves.

How we work

Eight controlled stages from brief to switch-on

We don't wing it. Each stage has a sign-off, so you always know exactly where your job sits on the floor.

01

Site measure and photo set

We visit the shopfront, record wall material, available setbacks, power access and any council heritage overlays. Photos go into the job file.

02

Drawing and material take-off

CAD elevations and section details issued as a PDF proof. Material schedule attached so nothing gets substituted quietly.

03

Client approval and deposit

Once you sign the proof we lock a build slot in the schedule and order raw stock. Fifty percent deposit, balance on install.

04

Metal cutting and folding

Aluminium or steel goes onto the guillotine and press brake, then gets tacked and MIG-welded into the frame or letter return.

05

Powder coat and cure

Parts are degreased, etched and sprayed to your RAL or brand colour, then baked at 200°C so the finish actually adheres.

06

LED fitting and bench test

Modules, drivers and wiring installed, then run for four hours on the bench to catch a dud driver before it ever leaves the building.

07

Transport and installation

Crated, shipped and bolted up by a licensed installer. We work around trading hours so your customers aren't climbing over scaffolding.

08

Handover pack and warranty

You receive as-built drawings, the electrical certificate, LED schedule and a service logbook for future module replacements.

FAQ

Questions we get asked on almost every job

If your question isn't here, call us and ask. We'd rather answer before you spend money than after.

Talk to a fabricator

Our workshop manager can walk you through the drawings over the phone, no sales layer in the middle.

Book a call

For simple block letters, yes. We vector-trace the shapes, send back a proof for approval, then cut. For anything with tight curves or fine serifs we'll ask your designer for an .ai or .eps file so the edges stay clean.

We do. We keep licensed installers on roster in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Hobart. Freight and the install schedule line up so the sign lands on the day the crew is booked, usually three to four weeks after fabrication finishes.

A standard face-lit box runs three weeks from deposit. If you've opted for powder-coat colour matching to a Pantone, add four working days for the batch spray. Complex halo letter sets with more than forty characters can stretch to six weeks.

You call us, we book a service visit, we swap the module and the driver if it's the culprit. Modules and drivers carry a two-year warranty from install date. Labour on the first replacement is on us.

Yes. We fit a dimmable constant-voltage driver as standard on lightboxes, and we can wire in a photocell so the sign kicks in at dusk or a time clock so it shuts off at midnight. Both add around $180 in parts.

Often yes, especially if you're in a heritage overlay or your sign projects more than 200mm from the wall. We can prepare the drawing pack for your planning application, but you lodge it and pay the fee.
